Jahmal Jones

Assistant Coach

Jahmal Jones was announced to the Alliance's coaching staff on April 22nd for the 2025 season.


A Mississauga, Ontario native, Jones played in the OUA for his university basketball career with Ryerson University from 2010-2015. While competing at Ryerson, he established himself as one of the program’s most decorated athletes. His impact was immediate, earning OUA East Rookie of the Year and Ryerson's Male Athlete of the Year in his freshman season. His excellence continued throughout his five-year tenure, culminating in a Second Team All-Canadian selection in 2014-15, when he led his team to a CIS bronze medal. His impressive accolades include three OUA East First Team All-Star selections and two Ryersonian Trophy wins as Male Athlete of the Year.


Jones also shone internationally, representing Canada at the 2011 Pan American Games and at the 2011 and 2015 World University Games, serving as co-captain in 2015.


Following his academic success, he embarked on an extensive professional career spanning multiple continents. His journey began in the Czech Republic NBL with Bohemilk Turi Svitavy before taking him across Europe, including leagues in Hungary, Estonia, Slovakia, Denmark and Sweden. In Canada, Jones distinguished himself in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) with the Edmonton Stingers, winning a championship in 2021-22. Most recently, he played in the Spanish LEB Silver League with Ibersol C.B. Tarragona, demonstrating his ability to adapt and thrive in a variety of basketball environments.


​​Jones transitioned to coaching, serving as the head basketball coach at H5 Academy Prep since 2023, building on his earlier coaching experience at Ryerson Summer Camp and Nike Basketball Camp with Sports Camp Canada.
