
Damian Buckley
Lead Assistant Coach
Damian Buckley was announced to the Alliance's coaching staff on April 22nd for the 2025 season.
Buckley was a force in the Canadian basketball world after graduating from Vanier College and embarking on an exceptional university career at Concordia. During his four seasons with the Stingers (2005-2009), Buckley led the team to two QSSF championships and a silver medal, while also capturing a CIS tournament consolation win.
His remarkable achievements include First Team All-Canadian honors (2008-09), Second Team All-Canadian selection (2007-08), two-time USports All-Canadian, Quebec Conference MVP (2008-09), and twice being named Concordia Male Athlete of the Year. After university, he played professionally with the Montreal Jazz in the National Basketball League of Canada (2012-13).
A Montreal native, Buckley has built an impressive coaching career, beginning at the high school level with Sun Youth and various provincial teams. Buckley has been the lead assistant coach with the Concordia Stingers since 2015, where he won an RSEQ championship in 2018-19 and finished second in 2017-18. As an assistant coach with the Ottawa Gee Gees (2022-2024), Buckley won back-to-back national bronze medals, while capturing OUA gold in 2022-23.
His professional journey includes serving as head coach of the Montreal Tundra (2023-24) and assistant coach with the Ottawa BlackJacks in the CEBL (2021-2024). A player development specialist, Buckley continues to give back to his community through his Uphill program for young basketball players.
