Biniam Ghebrekidan

Assistant Coach

Biniam Ghebrekidan was announced to the Alliance's coaching staff on April 22nd for the 2025 season.


Biniam Ghebrekidan returns for his second consecutive season as assistant coach with the Montréal Alliance. 


A Quebec native, Ghebrekidan had an outstanding collegiate career at Carleton University where he won the USports National Championship in each of his three seasons. He led Carleton to two OUA championships, earning CIS Tournament All-Star honors in 2019-20 and OUA East First Team All-Star recognition in 2021-22.


Before Carleton, Ghebrekidan attended Cégep de l’Outaouais and represented Team Canada at the 2014 U18 Americas Championship. During the 2022-23 season, Ghebrekidan played professionally in Portugal with Esgueira, averaging 9.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 26.9 minutes across 31 games.   


His journey with the Montréal Alliance began as a player in the 2023-24 season, where he averaged 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 23.7 minutes over two games. Ghebrekidan then transitioned to the coaching staff in 2024 and continues his coaching career into the 2025 season.
