Montréal Alliance sign American point guard Xavier Pinson at trade deadline

The Montréal Alliance announced Saturday that it has signed American point guard Xavier Pinson at the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) trade deadline.

 

A six-foot-two point guard from Chicago, Illinois, Pinson has just completed his fifth year of college after playing with Missouri (2018-21), Louisiana State (2021-22) and New Mexico State (2022-23). Last season, at New Mexico State, Pinson averaged 13.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 31.8 minutes in 23 games.

 

Pinson played three collegiate seasons with Missouri, where he recorded his best statistical season in 2020-21, averaging 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 25.5 minutes per game. The American point guard also set a personal best with 36 points in a 2021 win against TCU.

 

Pinson joins Kemy Ossé, Alain Louis, Elijah Ifejeh and Nathan Cayo, all four back with the Alliance for a second consecutive season; Canadians Mamadou Gueye, Quincy Louis-Jeune, Biniam Ghebrekidan, Christian Rohlehr and Negus Webster-Chan; U Sports draft pick Bahaïde Haïdara; 2022 CEBL Second Team All-Star Ahmed Hill; American Treveon Graham, and international player Evans Ganapamo as the 14th member of the team for the 2023 season.
