Montréal Alliance Launches new Community Program to Change Nets of Local Basketball Courts

Oct 30, 2023

The Montréal Alliance is proud to announce the launch of its new community program aimed at giving back to the Montréal community by committing to changing the nets of the city's outdoor basketball courts.

The launch of the program, which took place on Sunday, October 29 at Armand-Bombardier Park in the Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles neighborhood, was marked with joy and unity. The Alliance not only replaced the old nets, but also welcomed many local organizations, families and children from the neighborhood.

Following the replacement of the nets, team president Annie Larouche, borough mayor Caroline Bourgeois, as well as Alliance players Quincy Louis-Jeune (2023), Bahaïde Haïdara (2023) and Elie Karojo (2022) addressed the crowd.

"This is an initiative that means the world to us as it gives us the opportunity to thank the people who have supported us from the very beginning," said Annie Larouche. "We believe that every child should have access to a safe and welcoming place to play, train and dream. After all, this is where many friendships are forged, and where our youth learn important values such as perseverance and discipline".

The net changing ceremony was followed by a basketball tournament, with nearly 100 kids from the neighborhood taking part, many of them from local organizations. The kids were divided into teams and took part in friendly matches, coached and refereed by Alliance players.

With this new community program, the Montréal Alliance is reaffirming its commitment to the Montréal community. The team plans to organize such events in the various boroughs of Montréal from spring 2024, and to work constantly to change the nets of Montréal's courts.
