Prolific scoring forward brings professional European experience and strong rebounding presence to bolster Alliance frontcourt

The Montréal Alliance is excited to announce the signing of small forward Kevin Osawe for the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The 6’7”, 210-pound Brampton, Ontario native joins the Alliance after establishing himself across European professional leagues in Serbia and Slovakia.

“Kevin is a big addition to our team," said Alliance Head Coach Jermaine Small. “His versatility and size allow him to play multiple positions. He has a lot of untapped potential and we’re looking forward to unlocking it this summer.”

Osawe arrives in Montréal with a proven track record of production at the professional level. During the 2024-25 campaign with KK Cacak 94 in Serbia’s KLS league, he averaged 12.3 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting an efficient 58.0% on two-point and 35.0% from three-point field goals. Prior to his time in Serbia, Osawe excelled with BK Iskra Svit in Slovakia’s Extraliga, where he posted averages of 13.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

The 26-year-old developed his game through an impressive collegiate journey that included stops at Western Kentucky, Little Rock, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). In his final collegiate season (2022-23) at NJIT, Osawe emerged as a dominant force, averaging 11.4 points and 9.0 rebounds while recording 11 double-doubles.

“Joining the Alliance represents a perfect opportunity at this stage of my career,” said Osawe. “Playing professionally in Europe has been invaluable for my development, but there’s something special about competing closer to home in a league that showcases Canadian talent. The CEBL’s reputation continues to grow, and I can’t wait to bring my experience and energy to Montréal’s passionate basketball community.”

Before his collegiate career, Osawe was a standout at Vincennes, where he helped capture the junior college national championship and was named MVP of the tournament after a 22-point, 10-rebound performance in the title game.

The upcoming season will be the longest in CEBL history with each team playing 24 regular season games, including 12 home contests for the Alliance at the Verdun Auditorium and IGA Stadium. The Alliance will play its home opener on May 18 against the Brampton Honey Badgers.

In a groundbreaking event, the Alliance will host the first-ever outdoor 5x5 professional basketball game in Canadian history at IGA Stadium on May 23. The event, named "Éclipse : Match sous les étoiles", offers fans a unique opportunity to experience professional basketball under the open sky. Tickets start at just $25 and are available at www.alliancemontreal.ca/en-ca/eclipse.
