May 15, 2023

The Montréal Alliance announced Monday that it has re-signed its first player in franchise history and 2022 co-captain, Kemy Ossé, for the 2023 season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). The 6-foot-1 Montréal native played in all the Alliance’s 20 games in 2022, averaging 10.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 27.1 minutes per game. Ossé scored the game winning basket in the team’s home opener, sealing the first-ever win in franchise history.

“I am honoured to continue representing the Alliance and my city of Montréal,” said Ossé. “Being a part of the roster for the inaugural season of the franchise was an incredible experience and I look forward to building on that momentum and continuing to make an impact both on the court and in the community. The support from the fans was tremendous last year, and I look forward to giving it my all for them once again this season.”

Ossé represented Canada with the Brampton Honey Badgers at the Basketball Champions League Americas this winter, playing in two games as the CEBL champions faced Real Esteli (Nicaragua) and Libertadores (Mexico). Overall, Ossé recorded 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists in his two games played with Brampton.

Ossé played the 2020 and 2021 CEBL seasons with the Saskatchewan Rattlers, averaging 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 27.1 minutes per game, while shooting 35 percent from the three-point line.

After representing Team Québec at the 2009 Canada Games, Ossé spent four years at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in the NCAA’s Division I, averaging 6.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.7 assist and 17.5 minutes per game. He notably played in the 2016 March Madness tournament, helping his team pull off an upset over the Purdue Boilermakers.

Following his time at Arkansas-Little Rock and prior to joining the Saskatchewan Rattlers, Ossé played three seasons in the NBLC with the Charlottetown Island Storm, the Saint-John Riptide and the Windsor Express.

Ossé joins Alain Louis, Nathan Cayo and Elie Karojo, all of whom are returning for their second consecutive season, Quebecers Wilfried Balata, Mamadou Gueye, Biniam Ghebrekidan and Saydou Sall, U Sports draft picks Aryan Sharma and Bahaïde Haïdara, 2022 CEBL Second Team All-Star Ahmed Hill, and NBA G League players Blake Francis and Treveon Graham as the 13th member of the roster for the 2023 season. Ossé will join the team at the conclusion of training camp.

The Alliance plays the first of 10 home games at the Verdun Auditorium on May 26 against the Niagara River Lions. For more information or to buy tickets, visit https://www.alliancemontreal.ca/en-ca/tickets.
