Canadian Point Guard Marcus Ottey Signs With Alliance for 2023 Season

The Montréal Alliance announced Saturday that it has signed Canadian player Marcus Ottey for the 2023 season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). A six-foot-two guard, Ottey played the 2022-23 season with the London Lightning in the NBLC, averaging 9.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 23.0 minutes per game.

 

A native of Toronto, Ottey played four collegiate seasons with the Illinois-Chicago Flames in the NCAA’s Division I, averaging over 10 points per game in each season. Ottey averaged 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 31.6 minutes per game in his third collegiate season, in 2018-19.

 

Ottey joins Kemy Ossé, Alain Louis, Elijah Ifejeh and Nathan Cayo, all of whom are returning for their second consecutive season, Quebecers Mamadou Gueye, Quincy Louis-Jeune, Saydou Sall and Biniam Ghebrekidan, U Sports draft picks Aryan Sharma and Bahaïde Haïdara, 2022 CEBL Second Team All-Star Ahmed Hill, and Americans Blake Francis and Treveon Graham as the 14th member of the roster for the 2023 season. The Alliance take on the Brampton Honey Badgers for its fourth game of the season on Sunday, June 4, starting at 4:00 p.m., and will be looking to keep its perfect home record intact.
