CAMEROONIAN CENTRE MAXIME DJO EBALA SIGNS WITH MONTRÉAL ALLIANCE

Montréal, QC – The Montréal Alliance announced Sunday that Cameroonian centre Maxime Djo Ebala has signed a contract with the expansion team for the remainder of the 2022 season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). 


The six-foot-nine centre has played five of his seven professional seasons in the French Nationale Masculine 1 league, with Etoile Angers Basketball (2015-2017), BC Orchies (2017-2019) and Union Sportive Avignon-Le Pontet (2020-2021). The 28-year-old played his other two professional seasons with the Glasgow Rocks of the British Basketball League (2019-2020) and in the French Nationale Masculine 2 league with Basket Club Liévinois (2021-2022).


Last season, Djo Ebala averaged 12.4 points in 24 games played with Basket Club Liévinois. Djo Ebala’s second-best season in terms of statistics was played with the Glasgow Rocks in 2019-2020, when the centre had averaged 6.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Overall, in his seven professional seasons, Djo Ebala has recorded 10 or more points in 33 games, including four where he scored 20 or more. 


As a member of the Glasgow Rocks, Djo Ebala played under Montréal Alliance head coach Vincent Lavandier, who had led the organization to the regular season championship before winning the Coach of the Year award. Djo Ebala also played under Lavandier when he was with Angers and Union Sportive Avignon-Le Pontet. 


Djo Ebala joins point guards Kemy Ossé, Hernst Laroche, Alain Louis, Lawi Msambya, Samuel Chaput and Samuel Cayo, shooting guards Isiah Osborne and Sherwood Brown, forwards Dominic Green, Ashley Hamilton, James Jean-Marie, Nathan Cayo, Abdul Mohamed and Élie Karojo as well as centres Marc-André Fortin and Lewis Diankulu. The Alliance hold a 3-5 record in eight regular season games and will face the Edmonton Stingers in Montréal on Monday, June 20th at 7:30 p.m. For more information or to purchase single game tickets starting at $20 per game, visit
