Alliance's Strong Performance Ends in 80-78 Heartbreaker Against Shooting Stars

The Montreal Alliance fell 80-78 to the Scarborough Shooting Stars on Wednesday afternoon at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.


Montreal controlled the pace throughout the first three quarters, building a lead as large as 13 points before Scarborough rallied in the fourth quarter to secure the victory in Target Score Time.


Ant Nelson led the Alliance with 14 points, nine assists, and five rebounds, while five other Montreal players reached double figures. Newcomer IT Horton made an immediate impact with 11 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc, while Quincy Guerrier contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds. Montreal also won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Scarborough 50-47 despite facing league-leading rebounder Frank Mitchell.


For the Shooting Stars, Trey Thomas paced the offense with 22 points off the bench, while Mitchell recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The Alliance and Shooting Stars will meet again on Friday, July 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Verdun Auditorium for Retro Hip-Hop Night.
