Montreal Looks to Bounce Back Against Undefeated Brampton Honey Badgers

The Montreal Alliance heads to Brampton Thursday morning for a School Day matchup against the undefeated Honey Badgers at CAA Centre.

Montreal enters the contest with a 2-2 record following Tuesday night’s 87-72 loss to the defending champion Niagara River Lions at the Verdun Auditorium. Despite the result, the Alliance has established itself early this season as a physical team capable of generating offence from multiple players throughout the lineup.

The Alliance will look to quickly regroup against one of the CEBL’s hottest teams as Brampton enters Thursday’s matchup undefeated through its first four games of the season. The Honey Badgers most recently earned a 96-92 victory over the Winnipeg Sea Bears on May 25 and currently sit first in the Eastern Conference standings.

Javon Freeman-Liberty continues to lead Montreal’s offensive attack, while Michael Hughes II has anchored the Alliance in the paint on both ends of the floor. Montreal will also look for important contributions from Quincy Guerrier, Lue Williams III, and Kevin Osawe as the group continues to build chemistry.

Sean East II has led Brampton to its strong start, averaging 23.5 points per game while also leading the team in assists and steals. Matthew Moncrieffe has provided a strong presence on the glass with 9.8 rebounds per contest.

For Montreal, slowing down Brampton’s transition game and limiting East II’s offensive impact will be key as the Alliance looks to return to the win column before heading into a busy stretch of games.

Thursday’s matchup marks the first meeting between Montreal and Brampton this season.
