Montréal Alliance Welcome Back Abdul Mohamed in Key Signing
Former Alliance player returns to Montréal after successful European career, bringing versatility and international experience to the forward position

The Montréal Alliance is excited to announce the return of forward Abdul Mohamed for the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The 6’7”, 205-pound Ottawa native rejoins the Alliance after establishing himself across multiple European leagues, most recently with the BK Kongsberg Miners in Norway’s BLNO.
“We’re very happy to bring Abdul back to Montréal,” said Joel Anthony, General Manager and co-owner of the Alliance. “His growth as a player since his first year with the Alliance has been great to see. We are confident that he will add versatility to the wing position on both ends of the floor.”
Mohamed returns to the Alliance following an impressive 2024-25 campaign in Norway, where he averaged 16.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 36.8% from beyond the arc. His versatility was on full display throughout the season, recording 11 double-doubles, including a triple-double against Ammerud Basket in February.
The 28-year-old forward began his professional career with the Alliance in 2022, appearing in 11 games during Montréal’s inaugural CEBL season. Since then, he gained valuable experience in Germany’s Pro A League with Bayer Giants Leverkusen, and in England’s British Basketball League with the Surrey Scorchers.
“Returning to where my professional career began means a great deal to me,” said Mohamed. “I’ve developed significantly as a player since my time with the Alliance in 2022, and I’m excited to bring that growth and experience back to Montréal. The CEBL has established itself as a premier destination for Canadian talent, and I’m looking forward to competing at home and connecting with the passionate Alliance fans once again.”
Mohamed developed his game at Thetford Academy, the same prestigious Québec basketball program that produced fellow Alliance players Quincy Guerrier and Alain Louis, establishing a strong Thetford connection within the Alliance roster. He continued his development during a collegiate career that included stops at North Texas University and Montana State University, where he was known for his defensive versatility and outside shooting. At Montana State, he helped lead the team to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022, while averaging 7,6 points and 6,5 rebounds per game as a graduate student.
Prior to joining the University of North Texas, Mohamed played two seasons in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with Gillette College in Wyoming. In 66 games at Gillette College, Mohamed averaged 14.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, earning him first-team All-Region honours in his second season.
The upcoming season will be the longest in CEBL history with each team playing 24 regular season games, including 12 home contests for the Alliance at the Verdun Auditorium and IGA Stadium. The Alliance will play its home opener on May 18 against the Brampton Honey Badgers.
In a groundbreaking event, the Alliance will host the first-ever outdoor 5x5 professional basketball game in Canadian history at IGA Stadium on May 23. The event, named “Éclipse : Match sous les étoiles”, offers fans a unique opportunity to experience professional basketball under the open sky. Tickets start at just $25 and are available at
