Montréal Alliance Launches Community Program to Celebrate the Stars of Tomorrow

May 27, 2023

The Montréal Alliance is excited to announce the launch of its new community program, The Stars of Tomorrow. This program will recognize and celebrate the achievement of young basketball players in the community who have made significant contributions off the court.

The Alliance partnered with several local organizations to participate in this program. Each organization will select one young player per month who has demonstrated exceptional community involvement, academic achievement, perseverance, hard work, or has overcome adversity in some way. The participating organizations include:

·      Pour 3 Points: Pour 3 Points coaches help youth gain the skills needed to succeed in school and in life.

·      Les Ballons Intensifs: An organization that contributes to the development of young people from underprivileged backgrounds so that they become engaged citizens and agents of change in their community.

·      Les Monarques: A basketball program which provides young people with an alternative to gang life while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.

·      Bien dans mes baskets: A program that uses after-school basketball as a social intervention tool for teenagers at risk of dropping out of school, exclusion, and delinquency.

·      Athelitecanada: An organization that maximizes a child’s athletic potential in a fun and encouraging environment, regardless of their skill level.

·      Montréal Community Cares: Montréal Community Cares builds resilient youth through the power of sports, education and community.

Every month, each participating organization will select a young player from within their ranks who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in their community and made a positive impact off the court. As part of The Stars of Tomorrow program, the Alliance will invite these exceptional young players to a game and recognize their achievements in a pre-game ceremony on the court.

Throughout the season, young players from these organizations will be invited and recognized at three games: May 28 vs. Ottawa (for the month of May), June 25 vs. Edmonton (for the month of June), and July 19 vs. Scarborough (for the month of July). Since the Alliance is not playing during the rest of the years, the young players named for the months of August to April will be honoured at a game during the following season. Each month, the Alliance will also showcase these young players’ achievements on its website and social media channels.

"The Montréal Alliance is proud to launch The Stars of Tomorrow program, which will recognize and celebrate the exceptional achievements of young basketball players of our community," said Annie Larouche, Vice-president of Operations for the Alliance. "Through our partnership with local organizations, we are excited to foster the next generation of community leaders and agents of positive change. The Stars of Tomorrow program aligns with our mission to promote basketball and encourage community involvement. We look forward to honouring these outstanding young players and inspiring others to make a difference."

The Montréal Alliance is committed to developing young basketball players both on and off the court. By partnering with local organizations, The Stars of Tomorrow program will help foster the next generation of community leaders and agents of positive change. The program is set to launch this month, and the Alliance is excited to work with local organizations to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people across the city.
