GUERRIER AND STEVENS NAMED ALLIANCE CAPTAINS

June 6, 2025

The duo will lead the team on and off the court for the 2025 season

The Montréal Alliance is proud to announce the appointment of Quincy Guerrier and Ben Stevens as team captains for the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. This decision reflects the natural leadership and experience both players bring to a Montréal squad that remains undefeated early this season.

Quincy Guerrier, the 6’8” forward and Montréal native, and Ben Stevens, the 6’10” center from Halifax, have quickly established their influence both on the court and within the locker room since the season began. Their appointment follows an extensive consultation process involving all players and the coaching staff.

“Quincy and Ben have naturally emerged as leaders from day one of training camp,” said Jermaine Small, Alliance head coach. “Their professional approach, experience, and ability to elevate their teammates make them the obvious choice to lead this team. They perfectly embody the values we want to represent.”

QUINCY GUERRIER - A NATURAL LEADER

Guerrier, who is enjoying an exceptional start to the season averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, brings unique experience to the Alliance. After competing at the highest levels of American college basketball and in the NBA G League with the Raptors 905, the 25-year-old Montréal native understands the demands of professional basketball.

His deep connection to the city of Montréal and ability to connect with the local community make him a natural ambassador for the franchise.

“It’s an incredible honour to be named captain of this team, especially in my hometown,” said Guerrier. “Ben and I share the same vision: create a winning culture and represent Montréal with pride. We have something special here, and our role is to make sure every player gives their best for this organization.”

BEN STEVENS - INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Stevens, 26, brings extensive international experience gained across three continents. His professional career has taken him to North Macedonia, Germany, Australia, and Azerbaijan, giving him a unique perspective on the game and leadership.

Since the season began, the Maritime center has demonstrated his value with averages of 6.0 points and 4.5 rebounds, while establishing a consistent defensive presence in the paint. His maturity and professional approach have quickly made him a respected voice in the locker room.

“Being named captain alongside Quincy is an honour,” said Stevens. We’ve both had different experiences that allow us to help our teammates in complementary ways. Our goal is to maintain this winning culture we’ve established.”

A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS

The captains’ appointments result from an exhaustive consultation process involving all players and the coaching staff. Every member of the organization had the opportunity to express their opinion on the leadership qualities needed to guide the team.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT

The appointment formalizes leadership that has already manifested itself during the Alliance’s first two wins this season. Both players have played crucial roles in integrating new teammates and establishing remarkable team chemistry.

Guerrier and Stevens will lead the Alliance in their next game Friday night against the Edmonton Stingers at Verdun Auditorium, as the team looks to maintain their perfect record.

The captains’ appointment underscores the Alliance’s commitment to developing a strong team culture while pursuing their ambitious goals for the 2025 season.
