ALLIANCE DOMINATE ON THE ROAD, CRUISE TO 92-71 VICTORY IN BRAMPTON

June 4, 2025

The Montréal Alliance remained undefeated with a commanding 92-71 victory over the Brampton Honey Badgers at the CAA Centre, improving to 2-0 on the season while extending Brampton's winless streak to 0-6 in a performance that showcased their potential.

Anthony Walker delivered a masterclass performance, erupting for a game-high 25 points on efficient 9-of-15 shooting while adding 7 rebounds and 2 assists in just 21 minutes of action. The versatile forward was unstoppable in transition, converting thunderous dunks and showcasing an expanded offensive repertoire that had Brampton's defense scrambling throughout the contest.

Newly-acquired point guard Tavian Dunn-Martin made an immediate impact in his Alliance debut, orchestrating the offense with surgical precision. The veteran guard finished with 13 points and a team-high 7 assists, including several highlight-reel passes that set up easy baskets for his teammates. His court vision and pace control were evident from the opening tip, providing exactly the veteran leadership the Alliance sought when they signed him earlier this week.

Quincy Guerrier continued his strong start to the season with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Dontay Bassett provided his usual two-way impact with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Michael Diggins Jr. added 11 points off the bench, while Malcolm Duvivier chipped in 8 points including two crucial three-pointers.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown: The game remained competitive through the first quarter, with Alliance holding a slim 19-16 advantage. The second quarter proved pivotal as Montréal outscored Brampton 27-18 to take a commanding 46-34 halftime lead. The Alliance continued their dominance in the third quarter, winning the frame 29-21 to extend their lead to 75-55 entering the final period. With the game well in hand, both teams emptied their benches in the fourth quarter.

Balanced Attack: The victory showcased the Alliance's impressive depth, with six players reaching double figures in scoring. The team shot efficiently throughout, converting on fast-break opportunities and executing their half-court sets with precision. Their ball movement was exceptional, recording assists on the majority of their field goals.

Defensive Dominance: Defensively, the Alliance forced numerous turnovers and controlled the glass, limiting Brampton's second-chance opportunities. Ben Stevens provided quality minutes in the paint, while the perimeter defense created several steal-and-score opportunities that helped blow the game open.

Brampton's Struggles Continue: For Brampton, Quinndary Weatherspoon led the way with 16 points, while 2024 CEBL Canadian Player of the Year Koby McEwen added 14 points. Despite their individual efforts, the Honey Badgers couldn't overcome their turnover issues and struggled to match the Alliance's offensive efficiency. Amari Kelly contributed 13 points in the losing effort.

The victory marked several significant milestones for the Alliance. Not only did they complete a perfect 2-0 season series sweep against Brampton, but they also earned their first-ever road victory at the CAA Centre, improving their all-time record against the Honey Badgers to 3-7.

Looking Ahead: The Alliance returns home Friday for one of their most anticipated games of the season, hosting the Edmonton Stingers for Haitian Heritage Night at Verdun Auditorium. With the team riding high after back-to-back dominant performances, Friday's matchup promises to be an electric atmosphere as the Alliance looks to extend their perfect start to the season.
