Kappos Joins Puerto Rico National Team for 2025 FIBA AmeriCup

August 12, 2025

Montréal Alliance forward Sascha Kappos has been called up to Puerto Rico’s men’s national team for the upcoming 2025 FIBA AmeriCup tournament.

The 6-foot-10 forward appeared in eight games during the 2025 CEBL season, averaging 5.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 assist in 14.5 minutes played. Kappos delivered his best performance of the season in the Alliance’s final regular season game against Scarborough on August 10, contributing 21 points and four rebounds while shooting 5-of-7 from three-point range.

A Puerto Rican citizen, this marks an important milestone for Kappos’ basketball career as he represents Puerto Rico on the international stage.

The 2025 FIBA AmeriCup will take place from August 22 to 31 in Nicaragua, featuring 12 teams competing for the continental championship. Puerto Rico has been drawn into Group B alongside Canada, Panama and Venezuela.

Kappos will be placed on the Alliance’s Suspended List for the remainder of the 2025 season for him to participate in the AmeriCup while retaining his CEBL rights.

The Alliance organization congratulates Sascha on this achievement and wishes him success in the tournament.
