Kyle Desmarais
Player Development Coach
Kyle Desmarais was named Player Development Coach of the Montréal Alliance for the 2026 season.
A Montréal native, Desmarais brings a well-rounded background as both a player and coach. He played collegiately at Dawson College before continuing his career at the university level with Concordia and Bishop’s, later going on to play professionally, including a stint with the Cape Breton Highlanders in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada).
Following his playing career, Desmarais quickly established himself in coaching, serving as an assistant coach with the McGill University men’s basketball program. Most recently, he was part of the Montréal Toundra coaching staff from November 2024 to April 2025, while continuing to play an active role in the development of basketball across Québec.
Desmarais also serves as the 3x3 Development Coordinator for Basketball Québec, where he contributes to the growth of the discipline across the province and its emergence on the national stage. His expertise earned him an invitation as a guest coach at Canada Basketball’s men’s 3x3 national team training camp, where he participated in the selection process ahead of the Olympic Games.
He was also part of the London Lightning organization during their 2024 BSL championship run, adding another key milestone to his rapidly progressing coaching career.
