HEAD COACH


Jermaine Small is a coach whose journey in Canadian basketball is distinguished by unique achievements. His professional career reached new heights during his tenure as head coach and general manager of the Edmonton Stingers in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), where he was named Coach of the Year and led his team to back-to-back championship titles.


In 2020, Small made history by becoming the first coach from a diverse background to lead the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, reinforcing his reputation as an innovative leader. His previous experience as an assistant coach at Ryerson and Queen’s University highlights his ability to identify and develop emerging talent.


A Physical Education graduate from Houghton College, Small has developed a coaching approach that transcends traditional sporting boundaries. His mentorship philosophy has been instrumental in the rise of notable players, including Xavier Moon, who reached the NBA after being named CEBL Most Valuable Player three times with the Stingers, Jahmal Jones, now playing professionally in Europe, and Jordan Baker, who went on to become head coach and general manager of the Stingers.



During the most recent season with the Montréal Alliance, Small led the team to its best record in franchise history with nine wins and guided the organization to its first earned playoff appearance.
