
Damian Buckley
Assistant Coach
Damian Buckley was named Assistant Coach of the Montréal Alliance for the 2026 season.
A prominent figure in Montréal and Canadian basketball, Buckley starred at Vanier College before going on to an outstanding university career at Concordia from 2005 to 2009. He remains one of the most decorated players in program history, earning RSEQ Player of the Year honours in 2008–09 and being named a First Team All-Canadian.
Following his university career, he went on to play professionally with the Montréal Jazz in the National Basketball League of Canada (2012–13).
Buckley transitioned into coaching and has built an impressive résumé, including roles with the Concordia men’s program, where he contributed to a conference championship and a national silver medal. He also served as an assistant coach with the Ottawa Gee-Gees, winning an OUA championship and back-to-back national bronze medals. In October 2025, he was named interim head coach of the Concordia men’s basketball program.
At the professional level, Buckley served as head coach of the Montréal Toundra in 2023 and 2024, after working as an assistant coach with the Ottawa BlackJacks in the CEBL in 2021 and 2022. He has also been part of the Alliance coaching staff in previous seasons.
Known for his expertise in player development and his commitment to giving back to the community, Buckley continues his work through his Uphill program, which supports the development of young athletes.
