Alliance Seeks Back-to-Back Wins as Edmonton Visits Verdun

The Montreal Alliance returns to the Verdun Auditorium on Sunday afternoon as it hosts the Edmonton Stingers for the first meeting between the two teams this season. Sunday’s Future Stars Game will feature $10 kids' tickets with the purchase of a regular-priced ticket, making it the perfect opportunity for young basketball fans to experience CEBL action live.


Montreal enters the matchup with a 3-4 record following an exciting victory over the Winnipeg Sea Bears on Friday night. The Alliance received an immediate boost from recent additions Anthony Nelson and Davion Warren, while continuing to rely on the leadership of Javon Freeman-Liberty and Michael Hughes II.


Freeman-Liberty has led Montreal offensively through the opening weeks of the season, averaging 20.4 points and 5.0 assists per game. Hughes II has continued to anchor the paint, averaging 7.4 rebounds per contest while shooting an impressive 67.6 percent from the field.


The Stingers arrive in Montreal with a 2-4 record and are coming off a narrow 87-86 loss to the Brampton Honey Badgers on June 3. Edmonton has been led by Dain Dainja, who enters the weekend averaging 24.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.


Sunday’s matchup will feature two teams looking to gain ground in their respective conference standings as the season approaches the midway point.


Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Verdun Auditorium.
