The Montreal Alliance fell 87-72 to the Niagara River Lions on Tuesday night at Verdun Auditorium

On a special night at Verdun Auditorium, the Montreal Alliance honoured the Montreal Victoire’s Walter Cup championship by welcoming the team onto the court and presenting the trophy to Alliance fans during Tuesday’s matchup against the Niagara River Lions.


Montreal got off to a strong start on the court, building a 25-16 lead after the opening quarter thanks to balanced scoring and strong defensive intensity. Niagara responded in the second quarter with a 31-point surge to take control before halftime and eventually secure an 87-72 victory.


Quincy Guerrier led Montreal with 16 points and five rebounds, while Kevin Osawe added 14 points. Lue Williams III chipped in 13 points and Javon Freeman-Liberty finished with 11 assists.


Michael Hughes II continued his strong start to the season with 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for Montreal.

For the River Lions, Curtis Hollis scored 18 points while Donald Carey Jr. added 17 in the victory.

The Alliance also welcomed more than 200 young players from the local basketball community as part of Amateur Basketball Night. Fans were treated to in-game activations featuring promising local talent, along with a halftime showcase from teams representing Red Rush Academy.


Montreal returns to action on May 28 at 11:00 a.m. when they visit the Brampton Honey Badgers. The Alliance will then return to Verdun Auditorium on Sunday, May 31 at 4:00 p.m. to host the Ottawa BlackJacks.
