Alliance Fall 104-77 to BlackJacks

The Montreal Alliance fell 104-77 to the Ottawa BlackJacks on Wednesday night at TD Place.


Kevin Osawe turned in one of his strongest performances of the season, recording a double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Blondeau Tchoukuiegno filled the stat sheet with 14 points, eight assists, six rebounds, and six steals, while newcomer Jack Hemphill made an immediate impact in his Alliance debut, contributing 10 points and five rebounds less than 24 hours after joining the team. Prince Oduro also reached double figures with 11 points.


Despite the result, Montreal continued to take care of the basketball, committing just six turnovers while scoring 40 points in the paint and 24 second-chance points.


Ottawa's shooting proved to be the difference as the BlackJacks connected on 53 percent of their three-point attempts. Javonte Smart led all scorers with 38 points, the second-highest scoring game of his CEBL career, while Isaih Moore added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Alliance returns to the Verdun Auditorium on Friday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. for First Responders Night against the Brampton Honey Badgers. With the Honey Badgers sitting just one win ahead of Montreal in the Eastern Conference standings, Friday's matchup presents an important opportunity for the Alliance to strengthen its playoff position.
